its like the 3rd biggest grossing movie ever in Japan, their culture is ****** up... i dont have anything against very violent movies like this but for it to be so hugely popular is worrying.

Why would anyone find "real animal torture" entertaining. And surely thats illegal as well as being morally disgusting. I think ultra violence usually smacks of desperation and is largley an attempt to cover up poor scripts.
What you don't see can be twice as effective.

Correct! It's called 'the Hitchcockian approach'.

i read that initial focus groups for Fightclub said the movie was fairly violent, and then they were intructed to cut a few seconds here and there and the second lot of focus group testing said the movie was very violent!
Basicly becos the most graphic stuff was off screen and thus much worse in thier minds.

I had to watch that film for my Shocking film module in film, I had to turn away during the animal torture scene I just cant watch animals getting hurt, I can watch women and children get killed in drones, but you kill and animal and I feel sad.

its all about what you are used to...
a doctor wouldnt be shocked by seeing real blood and guts and stuff... in the same way we arent shocked my ppl being killed on screen becos its so common. Cruelty to animals on the other hand has not been exposed in anywhere near the same ammount. Im sure if you grew up in a culture where you had to kill and gut animals regularly to live off you wouldnt give a **** about the scenes in that movie, even if it is cruel and not just hunting for food.
